Now Scheduling Client Interviews
The Indigenous Boarding Home Claims has received approval from the Federal Court of Canada. The parties are finalizing the application details.
Indigenous people that were taken from their communities to attend school in another community and stayed in private homes (“boarding homes”) may be eligible for compensation for abuse that happened in or at those homes. Types of abuse may include, but may not be limited to, the following: loss of culture, loss of connection with community, verbal abuse, mental abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, slavery, failure to provide proper food, clothing and lodging, and so on.
The eligibility period runs from the late 1950’s to the early 1990’s. Compensation will run from $10,000.00 to $210,000.00 depending on the abuse suffered. There are no hearings for these claims.
Our firm will not be charging legal fees to clients on these claims. We will obtain legal fees from the Government of Canada.
